KRMC RESPIRATORY CARE DEPARTMENT

KRMC's Respiratory Service Department's goal is treat each customer with compassion, commitment and clinical excellence in a timely manner. The department is responsible for evaluating and assessing the patients' cardiopulmonary status to ensure patients' proper oxygen levels are maintained and to recommend and apply appropriate diagnostic (such as pulmonary function testing) and therapeutic modalities for all lung diseases and injuries including, when necessary, the initiating, maintaining and monitoring of life support systems under the orders of the physicians and auspices of the Arizona Board of Respiratory Care Examiners. The accomplish this, all Therapists have passed rigid Board exams administered by the National Board of Respiratory Care to ensure their skill and expertise in the proven practices and technology of their field.

Other respiratory services offered to patients include electroencephalogram (EEG) and electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG). EEG's are performed to detect abnormalities in the pattern of brain waves. This can help caregivers diagnose the presence and type of seizure disorders, confusion, head injuries, brain tumors, infections, degenerative diseases, and metabolic disturbances that affect the brain. An EKG is an electrical recording of the heart and is used in the investigation of heart disease.
